An Interview With Arocha Design Build President Charles Arocha

We recently sat down for an interview with Arocha Design Build president Charles Arocha. Mr. Arocha took a moment to tell us about himself, as well as how he has striven to provide the highest quality houses and commercial structures for their customers for over 30 years.

Why did you decide to go into business, other than of course to make money?

Charles Arocha: I love building! It is and always has been what I do best. When you take the concept of an idea or dream from a client, put it into plans and then make that idea come to pass, it is just the greatest gratification ever!

Describe your business to us, as well as how you found your niche!

Charles Arocha: We are a Design Build company that covers all the stages of building from start to finish. Early on, I found that clients would go out and get their own plans for building. This process would discourage most people, since the design process can be very costly and still not achieve the dream that they had in their heart in the first place.

In order to get attention and respect as a builder, we found that it was not just enough to specialize in building, but to be creative as well! Our projects have that WOW factor.

Can you tell us about any unexpected obstacles that have come up along the way?

Charles Arocha: To me, the building industry as a whole is changing to make room for safer homes and businesses. What I mean by that is these structures protect the people who live or work in them. We must pay more attention to structure beyond what the code requires. Because of changes like these, my business plan is ever changing.

What would you say is your biggest surprise and disappointment?

Charles Arocha: The biggest surprise to me is how many people really just settle for any old house, instead of pursuing a quality built house. The biggest disappointment is seeing so much of the public buying cheap housing. That has really surprised me as a custom builder. I think the whole building industry is behind. We need to concentrate on quality building, and not cheap housing.
